Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, the final movie in the Harry Potter saga, and part 2 of 2 of the final Rowling Harry Potter book, was released to box office success with airings beginning at midnight on Friday. Beating out the previous one day ticket sales record held by Twilight: New Moon, it brought in $92.1 million, way over the previous $72.7 million record.
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 concludes the young wizard’s fight against the evil sorcerer Lord Voldemort who returned from the death-like state he was forced into upon a spell rebounding off of Harry Potter near 18 years prior. In a final showdown the 2 sides combat in action packed sequences that is fueling the box office worldwide.
With the franchise being so popular, but coming to an end, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is expected to surpass the previous box office weekend record as well. Set by Batman: The Dark Knight, in 2008 with $158 million, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2 is well on its way to surpass that number.
